Your Mac document organiser.
Paperwork, found.

Bring PDFs, receipts, bills and letters into one local library. Read scanned documents with on-device OCR, then search by contents, party, date or type.

Requires macOS 26 or later and Apple Silicon. Automatic classification and field extraction require Apple Intelligence to be enabled and available. OCR and search work without it; documents may need manual review.

“IMG_2047.jpg” is not a filing system.

Three hundred files in Downloads. Photos of paperwork lost in your camera roll. A Finder search that finds nothing. You already have the documents — what you don't have is the ten seconds it takes to file each one properly, times three hundred.

1

Organise PDFs, receipts and bills.

Drop PDFs, images or text files into the library or onto the menu-bar icon. On Macs with a notch, drop them there too. Choose index-in-place if you want originals to stay where they are.

2

Read scanned documents with OCR.

Nilad reads text with on-device OCR. When Apple Intelligence is available, it suggests a document type and useful details. Review uncertain results and edit any field. Your corrections help guide future suggestions from the same sender.

3

Search document contents, not just filenames.

The dishwasher's warranty. The insurance policy. Anything from 2026. Even “agl over 200”. Search recognised text and reviewed details, then narrow the results by type, party or date. Save useful filters so you can find the same group again.

Your documents stay on your Mac.

Nilad processes documents with Apple's on-device frameworks. It has no document server, no Nilad account and no analytics. Apple handles purchases and subscriptions. Prefer your files where they are? Choose index-in-place and Nilad never moves an original — it just reads. How Nilad handles your documents →

From a shoebox to a search box.

The warranty when the dishwasher dies. The policy when the hail arrives. The year's export when the accountant asks. Search, filter, export — and export is never gated by payment. It's your stuff.

Will Nilad work with my documents?

Add PDFs, common image formats and plain text on an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 26 or later. OCR and search work without Apple Intelligence; automatic classification and field suggestions require it to be enabled and available. Check supported files, requirements and export options →

Why Nilad?

The name comes from the nilad mangrove, a nod to my hometown, Manila, and the familiar manila folder.
